Voice talent for Call Of Duty: Black Ops has been revealed. Gary Oldman will reprise his role of Vicktor Reznov from World At War for the Cold War-era shooter. He will be joined by Apollo 13 and The Rock actor Ed Harris, who will voice CIA operative Jason Hudson. It was also revealed that Dark Knight and Superman: Man Of Steel scriptwriter David S. Goyer has been a consultant for the game's story. "Oldman, Harris and Goyer are considered some of Hollywood’s finest talents and they perfectly complement Call of Duty: Black Ops' ambitious and immersive single-player experience," said Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia. "Their contributions have helped us to push the boundaries of our story telling and character development far beyond anything we have ever attempted before in the franchise." Black Ops will be available for PC from November 9. |

The first COD: Black ops multiplayer details landed via an event in LA earlier this morning. Details are still coming in but the publisher's already shown a trailer featuring surveillance camera killstreaks, crossbows and remote control buggies that explode on impact (and look awesome). Treyarch revealed AI opponents in the game's new combat training mode, encouraged by the fact that 30% of CoD players apparently never go online. This mode can be played offline or with friends. The new Create A Class features a screen showing your character model, because this time around how you look changes depending on which Tier 1 perk you choose (stealthy players will wear a relevant suit, for example). Black Ops multi is also set to include rare weapons only found in supply packages. These include death machine and grim reaper, the first of which is an absolutely mental machine gun and the latter a giant, fast-firing rocket launcher. The aforementioned remote control buggy also falls under this category. There's even a gunship you can FLY YOURSELF and a sam launcher that will shoot it down. Another massive change sees the introduction of Cod Points (or CD), which you'll rack up while you play and can use to purchase abilities usually gained with XP. CD can also be spent on Contracts; time-limited challenges that you can purchase. Four new game modes separate from standard XP modes have been added called Wager Matches, in which you put your Cod Points on the line during a match and the top three players reap the rewards. The first is One in the Chamber; pistols only, three lives and you lose your ammo if you miss a shot. The second is Sticks and Stones, in which you've got a tomahawk and cross bow - but the former bankrupts your target. The third is Gun Game, in which a kill puts you up a level in terms of gun power. The last is Sharp Shooter with Random weapons and perks. In Black Ops you can customise your gun with your own camo, iron sight and emblems. You can also edit together your own emblem on a screen not dissimilar to something found in Forza Motorsport. Awesome for a TDS TAG! And FINALLY Treyarch's adding a Halo-style Theatre mode, which looks almost identical to Bungie's version. All recent Live games can be opened up an viewed, the developer says. Medal of Honor was at the root of the latest FPS controversy when it was confirmed that Taliban soldiers will be playable in the game. But some military personnel believe that the real issue is the way war games make money from real-life conflicts. "People freaking out about the inclusion of the Taliban as playable characters in the multiplayer mode of the new game is ridiculous. In every FPS-type game, there is a bad guy," Justin Polaski of the US Army told GamerFeed. "More importantly, the creation of games like these is war profiteering; the same profiteering that Blackwater, civilian contractors, and companies that produce ACU backpacks for school children participate in." "War profiteering of any form is unjust and constitutes a true insult to those who have served overseas." When asked how he felt about being able to play as the Taliban in Medal of Honor, Jason Clark from the US Navy added: "I thoroughly enjoy these games but in respect to my fallen brothers I find it very hard and disturbing to play as the actual group whom I have seen kill so many of my friends and brothers in arms." A different US Navy member going only by the name of Jason (not Jason Clark we should stress) offered the the other side of the argument: "I can honestly state as a gamer and a military man that games have less of an impact that people might think." "I just push the buttons and kinda giggle at the rag-doll physics engine." Caitlin Stier from the US Army Reserves concurred: "Honestly, I don't really see what the whole fuss is about. It's a game, and just like in Call of Duty, you don't really care about what side you're taking, just as long as you win. As reported from the CodBlackOpsBlog, GameStop has revealed some of the special editions that gamers will be able to pick up, which include the Prestige Edition and Hardened Edition for the game. Customers have noticed that an added bonus for the Hardened Edition of the game, is four Nazi Zombie maps from the last World of War game, which have been revamped for use on the Black Ops game engine. On another website, GameStop has confirmed this as accurate, so it looks like zombies are definitely on the way. Here is the portion of text which accompanies the Hardened Edition: “Four exclusive zombie maps from World at War updated for the Black Ops engine ($15 value)”. Other rumours are that the ultimate edition of the game will include the remote control car recently shown in the multiplayer video. I have to admit, I'm not a fan of Zombies or exploding cars and like my COD a bit more serious. But saying that, I hope that they add some new zombie content to Black Ops, not just remake the old maps for Black Ops. Activision's bounced out a very shiny Call Of Duty: Black Ops multiplayer trailer - and teased a full reveal of the mode on September 1. The new trailer, which you can see below, features some neat gameplay elements - as well as new weapons and a smart buggy vehicle. There are plenty of cool achievements - I likeee the Back Stabbing - and new environments to be savoured. The September 1 tease is flagged up at the end of the video. Online retailer Buy.com has revealed that Call of Duty: Black Ops will be available in a Hardened and Prestige special edition. At least, it will in the US. While the contents of the two premium versions haven't been detailed, the Hardened Edition is listed for $79.99 while the Prestige Edition will set you back $149.99. Modern Warfare 2 received similar treatment when it was released last year. The Hardened Edition of MW2 featured a steelbook case, art-book and a code for Call of Duty Classic. The Prestige Edition had a working pair of night-vision goggles. You can probably guess these will have similarly outlandish gifts thrown in. According to analysts Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops pre-orders have surpassed those of Infinity Ward's blockbuster, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Comments from Treyarch suggest that the studio is very confident in their follow up to Modern Warfare 2, they recently stated that it 'raises the bar' over Modern Warfare 2 and will exceed expectations. |

Over the last few days various rumours have come out about playing Call of Duty in the future and a possible move toward a pay per month subscription model. Scary news admittedly, and probably a change that would mean many, if not all of the squad being forced to make a massive decision and most likely avoid that release of COD like the plague. However, Activision, Treyarch and Infinity Ward have all rubbished rumours of a subscription to play Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer, reports CVG on their site today. Activision's Dam Amrich was the first one to sound off on the rumours, which were sparked by the emergence of a video on CVG's site. "There's a video that made the rounds today of a 360 player getting a glitchy, incomplete message that uses the phrase "Modern Warfare 2" and half of the word membership." "This video shows just a glitch - since you can access a Live subscription renewal from within the MW2 game interface, it appears some data got jammed between two parts of Live. It's not a secret portal to some nefarious plot to charge people for COD multiplayer - and there are no plans to do that" explained Amrich. Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling also said "nobody has to pay to play COD or MW2 multiplayer, nor will they" in a tweet while Treyarch's community manager joined in with a tweet of his own, saying "No, you will not have to 'Pay to Play'". In fairness, it's Bobby Kotick's desire for a pay-to-play model that gave the rumours weight in the first place but it seems that we're safe. For now........ |

Tenuous link over, its still Cool As Fark™ Have a good shufti (thanks Merlin!) at this: The All New Tyrannos Transformer The Tyrannos is nominally intended to provide Marines with the ability to leapfrog over troublesome roadside bombs, mines, and ambushes while remaining able to drive on the ground as they normally might. However, it promises to be much quieter than ordinary helicopters in use and far easier to fly and maintain. More importantly it goes at 240 mph flat out, and can hover with VTOL capabilities. Call it the iTyrannos and I'm there!!

Looks like the big bad MW2 killer is gearing up for action... Activision have released 20 new shots for Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops. The Cold War FPS is being made with the advice and guidance of real Cold War veterans and will be getting a Wii version that 'you won't believe is running on Wii' according to studio head Mark Lamia. Treyarch is now a "100% Call of Duty studio', company head Mark Lamia has revealed to CVG. The developer has previously worked on Bond shooter Quantum of Solace and various Spider-Man games. But now studio boss Lamia says it's totally focused on CoD - and it's nothing to do with the great Infinity Ward exodus. Which now currently stands at over 30 employees. Activision are also being sued to the tune of over $500,000,000. sheesh. "Treyarch is a 100 per cent Call of Duty studio - and it has been for a long time now, long before any of [the Infinity Ward] events occurred," Lamia told CVG. "We focused all of our efforts on creating the best Call of Duty game we possibly can and what that meant is not working on anything else. We are a multiple team studio and focusing on Call of Duty and Call of Duty gameplay meant focusing all of our teams on that." One of the benefits of the restructure, says Lamia, is a dedicated multiplayer team - a first for Treyarch. Great White Hope? Maybe. |

Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling has confirmed the first details of Modern Warfare 2's Resurgence Pack. As with the first DLC add-on, Stimulus Package, Resurgence Pack will see two maps return from the original Modern Warfare. In this case, the maps making their comeback are Vacant and Strike. Resurgence Pack will also contain new maps Trailer Park, Carnival and Fuel. And yes, it will cost around £10.00. Again. Which I'm sure won't make us angry at all. Nope. I'm sure everyone will calmly calculate the value of said three new maps and rationally discuss whether it warrants their purchase or not. We know how these things work. We're professionals. [TDS] have made an empathic winning start to their Modern Warfare 2 competitive era.
In our first match, we played EGC Squad in a Demolition match and a Search & Destroy Match! Demolition : Invasion  [TDS] stamped their authority on the game early on & managed to see off any offence from EGC to defend both sites comfortably. In round 2, despite being a man down due to a player "crash out", we managed to plant at both sites & hold the fort for a 2 - 0 win. Search & Destroy : Favela  [TDS] took control of the game right from the off & led 3 - 1 at the first switchover. Our discipline & communication got us through some tough rounds to eventually overcome EGC, 16 - 8. Good games & well enjoyed by all. Heres to more competitive matches to come. |

(a) Squad Rules 1) The minimum age for [TDS] is 16yrs. 2) Cheating & map Exploits in any form will not be tolerated. Any member found to be cheating or using map exploits will be kicked from the squad and their name & ip will be shared with anti-cheat sites and other squads. 3) All squad members must wear the [TDS] tags at all times. Players will be warned of their conduct, then kicked if repeat offending. Alias names only permitted to council members for server surveillance matters. 4) All members MUST have a working Microphone. Failure to have a working microphone will result in a warning, then kicked if repeat offending. 5) All members are required to be on Ventrilo whilst playing in the [TDS] Game Servers between 6pm & 12pm UK Time. If you are not on ventrilo whilst playing, you will be warned & kicked if repeat offending. There are exceptions to this rule : ie: If you are playing 30 minutes or less. If you are babysitting, if you have guests & if family members are sleeping. 6) If you are a member of [TDS] you are not permitted to be a member of another squad. The Council may grant permission if [TDS] do not support the game you wish to play as long as it does NOT conflict with your commitments to [TDS] 7) Abuse WILL NOT be tolerated in [TDS]. Any form of insults, sexist, racism, or any form of slander made to another player will result in disciplinary action being taken by the Council. Please respect other players we are all here to have fun. 8) As a [TDS] member you are expected to uphold the reputation of the squad. This includes conduct in the [TDS] servers AND other squad servers / forums do NOT talk back to offensive players negatively. Any typing of WTF, BS, etc will not be tolerated. Please Rise above their derogatory comments 9) All [TDS] members are required to have an active role in forums to ensure they are up to date with all squad issues. 10) Members should commit to a minimum of 15 hours per month in the [TDS] server. This is equivellent to 30 minutes per day. If you fail to meet the 15 hours, then you will be given the next month to meet this requirement. Failure to meet the criteria after this time may result in your removal 11) All [TDS] members must inform a Council member if they are not going to be Online for more than 7 days. Match players must inform their Match CO if they are not going to be around for more than 3 days. If you do NOT inform a council member of your inactivity, you will be placed on the Inactive list after 2 weeks. You will be removed after 4 weeks. If you are inactive regardless if you have informed us for more than 8 weeks, you will be removed from the squad. (exceptions can be granted for certain reasons) 12) All members must keep their contact details updated & current. This includes email address, xfire, MSN etc. 13) Any member wishing to leave [TDS] must inform a council member right away IN WRITING via Email or PM. Tags must be removed immediately. All ex members are welcome into the server and website unless they have been banned. 14) Honorary members may come back into the squad as FULL members at the councils discretion & review. Only members that have left the squad can be granted Honorary status at the councils discretion. Honorary members must remove their tags unless they have re-joined as full members. 15) Use of Scroll Wheel and/or Macros for "auto fire" will not be tolerated. Use of such will result in a kick, warning & ban if persistant usage! 16) The council reserve the right to change the rules at any time. ############################################## (b] Match Player Rules 1) Match player rules are to be following in conjunction with the main squad rules 2) Players must play a minimum of 20 hours per month in the [TDS] server. 3) You must sign up as a Yes No or Maybe on VWAR. You must sign up no later than 24 hours before the match to be considered. Yes = 90% + No = Cant make it Maybe = if you are unsure if you can play. You must confirm as a YES no later than 6 hours before the match to be eligable. Priority is given to members who have stated YES intially. 4) Failure to show for a match you have signed up for will result in the following punishments : 1 game = warning 2 games = 1 match ban 3 games = Removed from match squad till further notice. If a member doesnt show that results in the team having to forfeit or play a man short, you will receive a 2 match ban. Bans are dished out at the Match CO's discretion at a time to be determined. 5) You must be on ventrilo no later than 30 minutes before the match time. You may be afk for 15 minutes prior, if you have informed the match CO you will be afk. If you have not logged into ventrilo at this time, you will lose your place in the team. 6) Match players should make an effort for training nights. Players that turn up for training etc may be granted preference over players that dont unless you have a genuine reason for not attending. 7) The Match CO's team choice is final. They have the right to play / leave out whoever they wish. 8) Players are NOT permitted to type during a match (other than ns, gg, hf etc etc) The Match CO is the only player allowed to respond in the match server. You will be given a match ban punishment (to be decided upon severity of conduct) by your Match CO. Remember that it is [TDS]'s reputation at stake. If you have problems with a squad, The wait til AFTER the match to report the issue. 9) Players MUST use Xray anti cheat & Demos whilst playing OFFICIAL league matches. Failure to use Xray or provide demos upon request will result in Match Bans (to be decided upon severity of offense) 10) NO recruits are permitted to play in an official match. ############################################## (c) SERVER RULES 1) All players MUST speak in English only. 2) Recruiting in the [TDS] server is not allowed and will result in a ban. 3) Cheating & Glitching in any form is not allowed. Anyone found cheating or Glitching will be banned from all [TDS] servers and their details submitted to anti-cheat sites. 4) Admins will issue a warning, If the warning is ignored, then the player will be kicked. repeat offences may result in a ban. The following are kickable offenses : a) Grenade Launchers or RPG's. b) Racist / offensive / abusive / annoying chat. c) Glitching / Cheating d) Accusing a player of cheating / glitching without proof (Proof to be submitted on the [TDS] forums in the form of demos & screenshots). e) Whining about "lag" f) Whining about "camping" g) Whining about "hopping" h) Whining about a players Loadout i) Rude & offensive Game-names will not be tolerated. Players must change their name to something none offensive. You will be given the following punishments for Server Abuse : 1st Time Use : Warning 2nd Time Use : Kicked for 30 minutes 3rd Time Use : Kicked for 999 Minutes 5) You may be kicked to make way for a [TDS] member or donator if the server is full. 6) You will be kicked if your ping is over 150ms 7) Donators will be given the "private slot" password for the server. Password is changed monthly. No Donation, No Password. ############################################## (d) Invitation & Recruit Rules 1) Only Council & Recruitment officers can invite players. [TDS] Full members are encouraged to look out for potential recruits, & inform a council member/ recruitment officer. 2) The Player MUST have a Minimum score ratio of 15 per minute to be eligable. 3) [TDSr] Tags must be worn by all recruits 4) The recruit must spend 20 Hours in the [TDS] server BEFORE being eligable to become a recruit. 5) You must have a working microphone & spend Time on Ventrilo to get to know the squad members. No Ventrilo or Microphone then no membership. 6) Registration to the forums must be done before Application. You then must keep up to date with current events on the forums. 7) The Recruit period will last between 2 - 4 weeks (starting from your welcome post on the forums) You have this time to prove your commitment & attitude towards the squad & its members. 8) [TDS] have the right to terminate a recruits trial at any time. ############################################## (e) TD S Club Junior RULES : 1) Players are only eligable if their parent is a Full member within [TDS] 2) As a full member & parent.. YOU are responsible for your childs actions on the server & on ventrilo. 3) There should be NO typing ingame etc. other than the usual.. gg, ns etc 4) There should be NO ventrilo spamming. Thank you for wishing to Join [TDS] Squad. Before you apply to become a member of [TDS] you must meet a few basic requirements, these are listed below. TDS Recruiting Policy 1. The minimum age for [TDS] is 16yrs or Older. 2. [TDSr] Tags must be worn for all recruits until full membership is granted then full [TDS] tags can be displayed. 3. Only 3 Recruits at one time with WEEKLY review 4. 6 Hours of Pre Application Game Time in our TDS private matches, then a further 6 hours in 14 days from the date of the your welcome post. So 12 hours minimum TDS Game Time to be considered Full Member. 5. Sponsor (Invite) of a Full TDS Member – This means a TDS member has to vouch or put his name behind a recruit. Applications without a Sponsor will be considered but taken as second priority. 6. Time must be spent on Ventrilo to get to know the squad members. No Ventrilo or Microphone then no membership. 7. Registration to TDS-HQ.COM forums a must before Application. 8. 20 Forum posts are required before full membership can be considered. 9. Complete weekly review Sunday/Monday to add or remove recruits although the trialist has 14 days to impress. If they fail to meet the criteria, then full membership will not be granted, but in some cases if the recruit is not looking active enough we may remove after 1 week to allow others recruits. * Have read and understood the SERVER RULES * Have read and understood the MEMBER RULES If you meet all the above requirements then you are free to apply to join [TDS], but please be aware that [TDS] have a limited number of recruit places. If all recruitment spaces have been alloocated then you will be informed and placed on a waiting list. When filling out the Join Request Form. You must tell us your game name, real name, mail address, date of birth and nationality. Please use the ADDITIONAL INFORMATION box at the BOTTOM of the request form to tell us of any previous game names you have used, why you wish to join [TDS] and who in [TDS] will vouch for you.IMPORTANT: Your application will NOT be processed if you fail to give the details required above. As a recruit you will be given 14 days (from when you are welcomed into the squad) to meet the following requirements. * You must spend a further 6 hours in TDS matches within the next 14 days (verified by stats) Thus making 12 hours combined with pre-application) * Recruit period to be 14 days from date specified on FORUM WELCOME POST. * Make at least 20 posts on the forums in the public section (access to Squad section once you pass your trial) within 14 days * Time must be spent on Ventrilo to get to know the squad members. * The trialist has 14 days to impress. The Defector Squad is a mainly UK based squad, starting life in June 2005 due to Vets' decision to disgard Black Hawk Down.
[TDS] Squad built a good reputation among the BHD Gaming scene consisting of great players & friends. However, At the end of August 2007, [TDS] made the very difficult decision to retire Black Hawk Down. On the 9th November 2007, [TDS] embarked on a new journey as a Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare Squad. It was a new era for [TDS] Squad... & we made the most of it, having fun in public servers to competiting in leagues & tournaments & winning our Group Division with a 100% victory percentage. In November 2008, [TDS] decided to expand into the world of Call Of Duty, by stamping their feet firmly into the "World At War" gaming soil.
